I am French living in UK since 1998. I bought my 1960 Kombi in August 2007. In France, I also have a 1961 Kombi, a 1974 Beetle and a 1976 German Army 181 Trekker.
A year ago I managed to get hold of this bay window gear box with the intention to make an engine stand. I saved the planet today. I found this old shopping trolley in the stream at the back of my house. And had an idea. I removed all the unnecessary bits and tried to work out how to build the engine stand This plate will hold the gearbox in place The weight of the engine will rest on this piece of wood. But I had to cut the wood to shape.
And now the exciting bit. The trolley has been welded to hold all the weight of the engine. I even have the possibility to put a battery and a petrol tank at the back. This is what the engine stand looks like with the engine.
