My French 1200cc Beetle before restoration

This is my first Volkswagen, a 1974 1200cc Beetle. I bought it about 1992 and with the help of my dad, we restored it completely. We didn't know anything about Volkswagens and it's been fun to learn it, the hard way.

All the body parts have been removed, to do a full restoration.

The chassis was completely rotten, so we had to remove the body from it.
Both floor panels had to be replaced.
More photos to follow....

PAU Historic Grand Prix

My home town is Pau, where the historic Grand Prix is held, it has a unique place in the history of motor racing. The name ‘Grand Prix’ was first used here to describe the race run through its streets in 1901. Over the years this unchanged circuit in the heart of the city has witnessed titanic battles involving Etancelin, Nuvolari, Fangio, Ascari, Villoresi, Trintignant, Brabham and Clark.

Lots of Aston Martins this year. And of course lots of Brits.

I could do with this pair of weber carbs.

Nice Porsche.

My French Combi

This week I went back to France and I have found a few photos of my other Combi. It's a 1961 11 Windows L345. It could do with a bit of T2D action.

1st day back in 1995. Not too bad for £300

This is as it is now.
